What are MLB Futures Bets
Think you know which MLB team will win the World Series this season? Or do you have a strong feeling that a certain pitcher will come on strong after the All-Star Break and take home this Cy Young for his league? Then check out MLB futures betting at TwinSpires Sports. The oddsmakers set odds for the major end of series awards and for the the respective division, league, and MLB championships. Throughout the year, odds are adjusted as the fortunes of teams rise and fall. By picking a solid "value" bet early in the season, savvy bettors have an opportunity to net big wins if they're willing to take a leap of faith early on.With any futures bets, you'll typically see a "+" number next to any available wager. For example, +3000 odds for a team to win the World Series would mean that a bet of $100 would pay off $3,000 if that team ended up as champions. In rare instances, you may see a "-" number next to a team or player that is an overwhelming favorite for a championship or award. For example, -170 odds for a team to win their division would mean that a bet of $170 on that team would pay a $100 win if they ultimately prevailed as division champions.

MLB World Series Odds
World Series odds are available throughout the season on TwinSpires Sports for virtually any team not yet mathematically eliminated from contention for postseason play. Any team with a "+" sign next to their name will pay out whatever number is listed on a bet of $100. Below are the World Series odds for the top 10 teams in Major League Baseball as of June 19th, 2019. Note that these odds can change frequently and likely do not reflect current pricing:
In the example above, the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers are listed as the most likely to win the World Series with +300 odds. That means a successful $100 wager on either of those teams at this pricing would net a $300 win. By contrast a $100 bet on bigger longshots such as the Boston Red Sox or Milwaukee Brewers (both listed at +1600) would net a bigger payday of $1,600. MLB Teams with the Most World Series Championships

New York Yankees | 27 | 2009 |
St. Louis Cardinals | 11 | 2011 |
Oakland Athletics | 9 | 1989 |
Boston Red Sox | 9 | 2018 |
San Francisco Giants | 8 | 2014 |
MLB Teams that have Never Won a World Series
Team | Year Founded | World Series Appearances |
---|
San Diego Padres | 1969 | 2 |
Milwaukee Brewers | 1970 | 1 |
Texas Rangers | 1972 | 2 |
Seattle Mariners | 1977 | 0 |
Colorado Rockies | 1993 | 1 |
Tampa Bay Rays | 1998 | 1 |
Washington Nationals | 2005 | 1 |
Not only have the Mariners never reached the World Series, but they haven't even qualified for the playoffs since 2001. That's a tough pill to swallow for a team that has featured legendary played like Randy Johnson, Ichiro Suzuki, and Alex Rodriguez.

National League Championship Series (NLCS) Odds
The National League, established in 1876, is the older of MLB's two separate leagues. The game is played the same in both leagues, although unlike the American League, there is no Designated Hitter in the National League, and pitchers have to take at-bats each time through the lineup. Just like the World Series, odds are set at the beginning of each season for the chances of each of the 15 National League teams becoming league champions. Below are the NLCS odds for the top six teams in Major League Baseball as of June 19, 2019. Note that these odds can change frequently and likely do not reflect current pricing:
In the example above the Los Angeles Dodgers are listed as the most likely to win the NLCS with +125 odds. That means a successful $100 wager on either of those teams at this pricing would net a $125 win. By contrast a $100 bet on a bigger longshot such as the St. Louis Cardinals (listed at +1400) would net a bigger payday of $1,400.

American League Championship Series (ALCS) Odds
While the American League, established in 1901, is the younger of MLB's two separate leagues, it has enjoyed more success in the World Series. From 1903 to 2018, the World Series has won by an American League team 66 times and a National League team just 48 times. Just like the World Series, odds are set at the beginning of each season for the chances of each of the 15 American League teams becoming league champions. Below are the ALCS odds for the top six teams in the AL as of June 19, 2019. Note that these odds can change frequently and likely do not reflect current pricing:
In the example above the Houston Astros are listed as the most likely to win the ALCS with +160 odds. That means a successful $100 wager on either of those teams at this pricing would net a $160 win. By contrast a $100 bet on a bigger longshot such as the Cleveland Indians (listed at +1800) would net a bigger payday of $1,800.

MLB MVP Odds
Similar to picking teams to win their respective division, league, or the World Series championship, bettors can also wager on individual players to earn MVP honors for the AL and NL respectively. Perhaps a highly talented player gets off to a slow start the 1st two months of the season. By placing a wager on that player when their MVP odds are long, a bettor can potentially net a big payday if their pick catches fire in the second half of the season and takes home the award. Below are the AL and NL MVP odds for the top four candidates in each league as of June 19th, 2019. Note that these odds can change frequently and likely do not reflect current pricing:
In the example above, Mike Trout is the prohibitive favorite to win the AL MVP award with -250 odds. That means a successful $250 wager on Mr. Trout would net only a $100 win. By contrast a $100 bet on a bigger longshot such as Ronald Acuna Jr. for the NL MVP award (listed at +1000) would net a bigger payday of $1,000.

Cy Young Odds
Just like making a bet on a prospective player to win NL or AL MVP, baseball bettors can also wager on which pitcher or pitchers they think have the best chance of taking home CY Young award honors at the end of the season. Below are the AL and NL Cy Young odds for the top four candidates in each league as of June 19, 2019. Note that these odds can change frequently and likely do not reflect current pricing:
In the example above, the South Korean southpaw Hyun-Jin Ryu is the prohibitive favorite to win the NL Cy Young award with -200 odds. That means a successful $200 wager on Ryu would net only a $100 win. By contrast a $100 bet on a bigger longshot such as Chris Sale for the AL Cy Young award (listed at +350) would net a bigger payday of $350.
