Conditioning will be key

The big question for both women comes down to conditioning. Both Eye and Calvillo are notorious for missing weight, to the point where it might even be prop bet ahead of the fight.

While Calvillo moving up a weight class is probably best for her, Eye missed weight in her last fight by five pounds. It is no secret that these two aren’t the most disciplined fighters, but assuming they are properly prepared, this could be an interesting bout.

Eye’s bread and butter is her boxing, and she often uses lateral movement and judicious spacing to pick her opponents apart. Her fast hands come with decent pop, but her lack of variety in her attack makes her easy to figure out. Considering she is the naturally bigger fighter, Eye should abandon the methodical approach and test Calvillo’s resolve from the beginning.

Calvillo will try to take Eye to the ground

Calvillo is going to do what she can to crowd Eye and take her to the ground. Almost half of Calvillo's wins have come by submission, and she shouldn’t have problems using her speed to close the distance.

Calvillo may get her best chance to do some damage by sitting back and countering, once she gets Eye's timing down. Whether she can slow Eye’s work rate down to even get to that point, without resorting to brawling, will determine how this fight will go.

For a veteran, Eye is still durable and can easily go the rounds. If she can safely make the weight limit, without it compromising her gas tank, her hand speed and activity should be more than enough to push Cavillo to take some risks.

Expect Eye and Cavillo to go the distance

This fight is going to be as close as the odds indicate, especially if Cavillo counters effectively and scores takedowns.

Eye has enough left in the tank to turn Cavillo away and score a close decision win.
