There’s nothing like your first time. Whether it’s your first steps, your first day of school, or your first kiss, there’s something positively thrilling about experiencing something you’ve never felt before.

That's especially true in the NBA, where the league has been proudly trumpeting every new milestone since Nov. 1, 1946, when the New York Knicks played the Toronto Huskies in the Association’s first game. The league’s statisticians have been fastidiously counting everything that counts ever since, from the first basket scored to the first triple-double recorded.
