Thursday Night Football's Week 2 primetime matchup will pit New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones against Washington backup Taylor Heinicke in a game set to kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET at FedExField.

Despite the loss of starting quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who suffered a hip injury in Week 1, WFT is a 3.5-point home favorite against its NFC East rival. Bettors are divided on which team will win, based on the action taken at TwinSpires Sports.

New York is 5-0 straight-up against Washington, dating back to 2018, but D.C.'s team is inching closer to a victory.

Last year, the Giants barely defeated Washington and backup Kyle Allen, 20-19, in October and followed up that win with a 23-20 nail-biter a month later in the nation's capital. Now retired quarterback Alex Smith was at the helm of Washington's offense in the second meeting.

In Week 1 of the 2020 season, New York got embarrassed by Denver at home, while Washington, whose pass defense ranked second in the league a year ago, was exposed by Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers.

WFT backup Heinicke will get his third NFL start on Thursday. Last season, under the bright spotlight of the Wild Card Round, he got his first start for Washington and threw for 306 yards, ran for another 46, and scored two total touchdowns in a 31-23 defeat against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Heinicke's past heroics have the public siding with Washington, based on the number of moneyline bets placed on the team. However, 57% of the money has gone to the Giants in Thursday's matchup.

While the Giants' moneyline has drawn more handle, the majority of point spread bettors are backing Washington.

Nearly 60% of all tickets and money are on Washington at -3.5.

The line originally opened at -4.

Neither New York nor Washington covered in Week 1, but WFT is 6-2 against the spread in its last eight games.

As for Thursday night's points total, bettors anticipate a low-scoring outing between these two struggling offenses. The total opened at 42.5 and has dipped to 40.5.

The Under is 5-1 in Washington's last six games, and 5-0 in New York’s last five.

WFT scored 16 points in Week 1, while New York managed just 13 against the Broncos, who sacked Jones twice and forced him to fumble in the red zone late in the third quarter to effectively put the game out of reach.

Most popular prop bet: Logan Thomas first touchdown scorer

The most popular prop bet made at TwinSpires Sports is on tight end Logan Thomas to score the first touchdown (+950 odds) of Thursday's contest.

Last season, Thomas led Washington in touchdown receptions (six) and is a favorite target of Heinicke's.

Thomas was the only player to catch a touchdown for his team in Week 1 and hauled in the 11-yard reception on Heinicke's third drive of the game.

New York allowed Broncos tight end Noah Fant to pull down six of his eight targets for 62 yards, and surrendered a touchdown to second-year tight end Albert Okwuegbunam in the Giants' Week 1 loss.
