The St. Louis Blues battle the Boston Bruins as a +130 underdog in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final. Should bettors back the dog to bite? Check out why the St. Louis Blues are a good bet to win the Stanley Cup.

St. Louis had a more difficult path to the Stanley Cup

The Boston Bruins battled the Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. After that, Boston got to play the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Carolina Hurricanes.

St. Louis had a much more difficult path to the Stanley Cup Final. The Blues had to beat a couple of No. 2 seeds on their way to the trophy series. They beat the Winnipeg Jets in the first round. Then, they took down the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Final. The Blues also had to defeat the Dallas Stars, one of the top defensive teams in the NHL.

The Blues are battle-tested, while Boston didn’t have to face Tampa Bay or Washington in its conference. That might give St. Louis a slight edge.

St. Louis has shown the ability to win playoff games on the road

The Blues won playoff games on the road in all three of their NHL Western Conference playoff series. They beat Winnipeg 2-1 on April 10. On April 12, they topped the Jets 4-3 on the road. The Blues also won a couple of road games against Dallas, 4-3 on April 29 and 4-1 on May 5.

St. Louis also won Game 2 and Game 5 on the road against the Sharks. Teams that can win playoff games on the road often play well in the Stanley Cup Final. The Blues are road warriors, which means they won’t be intimidated by having to battle the Bruins at TD Garden.

The Blues heated up in the Western Conference Final

A lot has been said about the Boston Bruins heading into the Stanley Cup Final on a seven-match winning streak. St. Louis is on a streak as well. Although the Blues haven’t won seven in a row, they did beat San Jose in three straight.

The streak could have possibly been extended to four if a hand-pass foul that San Jose committed in Game 3 had been called. St. Louis appears to be peaking at the perfect time. That alone makes them a serious threat to beat the Boston Bruins in the 2019 Stanley Cup Final.
