The late pick 4 on Saturday, Gold Rush day, at Hollywood Park is an interesting one. The sequence includes a claiming race on the turf and three California-bred stakes. We took a look at the Snow Chief in this week's Player's Edge so let's breakdown the other three.

The pick 4 starts with the claiming race on the turf, which drew a field of nine. Diamondsdiplomat has won back to back races and is a half length away from three straight. He was just claimed by Julio Canani for $40,000 so the spot in a $50,000 claiming race makes sense. He is the pace of the race and looks to be lone speed. The main threats to the favorites are Ivanho and McAllister Boys, both of which will be spotting the favorite several lengths turning for home. The long shot look in the field is Facoltoso, who is making his fourth start in the U.S. since coming over from Italy. Facoltoso hasn't beaten too many horses in his three races, but those were in stakes so the drop to a claiming race will help.

Teddy's Promise is 7-5 on the morning line for race 8, the B. Thoughtful Stakes, and is the class of the field. Unlike race seven, there appears to be plenty of pace in this race and the favorite may have to overcome some adversity. The five-year-old mare used to be a closer, but has now been racing closer to the pace. If jockey Victor Espinoza decides to take back, Ismene could take them gate to wire. Ismene is making her third start off a year layoff and looks to be the speed of the speed. Sparkling Style, Sugarinthemorning, Dancingtothestars have wins over the track while Warren's Blossom rates a look if ready to run off the 21 month layoff.

The finale may be the biggest head scratcher in the sequence. Warren's Veneda, Discreet Dee, Tickle Again, Northern Flight, Lakeside Bride, Lil Cheyenne and Hanserella all have starts that could win this maiden stakes, but we are going to side with the first time starters Onemoresweetkiss, Mia Lady and I'm No Patsy.

Tough race that could end in an overlaid pick 4. Just some money in the bank for the Kentucky Derby, which is one week away.

First post on Saturday is 4:00 pm ET with the pick 4 going to post at 7:10.
