Australia A – Mooney Valley

Saturday the 28th of December sees Mooney Valley hosting its last meet for 2013 and while it is another standard race meet for this time of the year, we are still happy to focus on the two main features, the $100,000 (AUS) Mile long Emsley Lodge Handicap and the $100,000 (AUS) Jeep Don’t Hold Back 1000m Sprint Handicap.

Race 3 – Emsley Lodge Hcp

I think the smart play here is to look for some overs here with THEODORA who gets in with no weight and can most likely sneak around in front. She won the maiden really well last time and finished near Love The Rock prior which reads as a good form line. MAGNESIA was too slow 2 back but last tinme was unlucky to my eye when given limited room, the 1600m should be ideal. KISS ME KETUT is flying and the small field/rail true formula here at the Valley plays in her favour, I sincerely doubt that the mile is an issue. DA PAOLINO and POLE PARADISE both look promising too, so they can go into multiples. ZEBRINZ (no weight/gate 1) has a good case too!

Race 6 – Jeep Don’t Hold Back Hcp

JOHANNAPINE had little luck her 2nd time in this preperation behind General Jackcon/ Innocent Hero, and that form has been proven at Flemington the last few weeks. She gets the advantage of being back against her own sex here and sitting just off a hot speed puts her in a fantastic position to win this race. PRETTYHAPPYABOUTIT maps well and is very genuine here with 3 places in 3 starts, she is in well with relative weights. SASSY TYCOON was simply too fast for her here last time and has real upside, can she cross from gate? That’s the big query in these sprint races on such a tight track. HALLE ROCKS draws wide with 60kg (maybe too much) so will want a solid pace on/swooping pattern. LAMINGTONS is definitely your lightweight hope.
