Australian racing picks for Gosford and Ballarat
The first race at Gosford is scheduled to kick off at 10:10 p.m. ET.
Here are a couple picks!
This 6-year-old mare is stabled just up the road from Gosford, in the Newcastle barn of trainer Paul Perry.
She returned from a break two weeks ago and reeled off one of the best closing sectionals of the day, when she finished second over 4 1/2 furlongs.
She’ll be fitter after that run and will step up to 6 furlongs, which is a distance she has won at twice before. She has also picked up the services of veteran jockey Chris O’Brien, who has a few Group 1 wins to his name.
Those 14-1 morning-line odds look generous!
Many Bucks supporters would have thought they got the chocolates at his last start, but he was beaten in a head bobberm, right on the line, in an exciting finish.
That race was also on the synthetic at Ballarat and over a similar distance to what he will contest tonight. The opposition looks similar, but Bucks will drop ever so slightly in weight and is drawn to get a good run behind the pace.
Tonight can be his night, and while I hope we can get something like his 5-1 morning-line odds, I expect him to start closer to 3-1.
