Trials are set this Friday (November 6, 2015) for the $1,000,000 LQHBA Breeders  Futurity (RG1) at Evangeline Downs. A total of 14 races will be run for the only seven-figure Quarter Horse race in the state. The ten fastest two-year-old Louisiana-breds will return for the final on Saturday, November 28.

One contender to watch is the undefeated Jessa Louisiana Zoom, a Jess Louisiana Blue filly trained by Frank Cavazos. The talented lass has won each of her four starts, including the Lassie Futurity and the $635,000 Lee Berwick Memorial Futurity (RG1) at Delta Downs. Regular pilot Danny Lavergne will ride Jessa Louisiana Zoom in the third trial.

Another graded stakes winner, Magic Black Jack, will be ridden by David Alvarez from the rail post in the 12th trial. Trained by Martin Trejo, the gelded son of Jet Black Patriot broke his maiden winning the $301,000 Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2) last March at Louisiana Downs.

Top Louisiana conditioner Kenneth Roberts Sr., who won the 2014 edition of the race with Ol Time Preacher Man, has entered 17 juveniles His filly, Telarosa, a daughter of Jet Black Patriot, won the $304,000 LQHBA Sale Futurity (RG1) at Fair Grounds. Jockey Lucas Constantin retains the mount, and will run in the tenth trial of the evening.

Last year's champion, Jls Dashn And Zoomn, was purchased for a mere $7,500 at the 2013 LQHBA Yearling Sale. His half-length victory in the $1 million LQHBA Breeders Futurity (RG1) earned his connections a first-place check for $445,000. This is one of the latest futurities on the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) calendar and always has a tremendous field for the final.

Due to the added races on Friday night, Evangeline Downs has set a special early post time of 5:05 p.m. (Central).
