Eleven vie for BC spot, Oaks points in Alcibiades
Favoritism in the Alcibiades is likely to fall on Dothraki Queen, who already scored some Kentucky Oaks points with her half-length win in the Pocahontas (G2) at Churchill Downs on September 12. The Ken McPeek-trained daughter of Pure Prize overcame a soft pace that day, just like she did when taking her debut by seven lengths over the Ellis Park turf in mid-July.
Just Wicked, a dull fourth as the 1-2 favorite in the Pocahontas, will attempt to rebound in the Alcibiades. The Steve Asmussen pupil was heavily favored following a 1 1/4-length victory in the Adirondack (G2) at Saratoga. Also exiting the Pocahontas are Dream Dance, who was elevated to second via disqualification, and also-rans Decked Out, Princess Kennedy, and Put Da Blame On Me.
Invading from California is Gomo, second in the Sorrento (G2) and third in the $101,000 Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf in her two stakes outings. She goes for Doug O'Neill, whose stable has been winning juvenile graded stakes on both coasts over the past couple of months.
Others lining up for the Alcibiades are Lookout Sister, a restricted stakes winner at Delaware Park last time; Marquee Miss, three-length scorer in the $75,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie in her career debut; and Little Cherie, who broke her maiden at Keeneland in April and recently captured a six-furlong allowance at Indiana Grand.
