A very nice card on tap at Southland on Thursday evening with 18 exciting races featuring quite a few top class contests. The picks tonight are concentrated on the grade AA races and a solid grade B contest. You will see some of the best greyhounds at the track running and hopefully be able to put some cash in your pocket. Good luck to all and thanks for reading.

Race 13 - Grade AA - 583 yard course - Going with the (2) Dundrum to win a close one here. He has two wins and a third place finish in his last three races, likes the inside and has good early speed so he's the key for me. Also having early speed and liking the inside is the (1) Kiowa CatAnd Hat so I believe these two will battle right out of the box for the lead. The (7) CBJ Twix has a nice rush and I will use him in case he happens to get around the turn in good shape, he's a tad short at times but still capable of running a big race. Finishing the play will be the (3) Slatex Aspen who is coming off a four and a half length win.

Pick 2-1-7-3

Race 16 - Grade TB - 660 yard course - I like the (5) Kay Rock Sweet to keep her winning streak going as she tries to make it three straight over this distance. The competition in this race will be tough but she is running hard and is my key here. The (2) A Nun With A Gun is also on a roll, having five top two finishes in her last six races and with her early speed and rail running style could win this one herself. I do think both the (6) JK Lee and the (8) should be included in tri and superfecta plays as each has been giving 110% as of late.

Pick 5-2-6-8

Race 17 - Grade SAA - 820 yard course - Here we have the always exciting super marathon race and I'm going with the (5) Kiowa Groom to pull the upset. I am a little surprised that this greyhound isn't on the morning line but even with her fifth place finish last time out, I am going to stay with her as the key. In the chase as well should be the (1) Kiowa Tree White who loves the inside and is trying to make it two straight wins from the one box. The (7) RC Holdingspride had his three race winning streak snapped last time out but can't be overlooked and the (4) GS Sidney will be closing fast down the stretch so I'll use them both in tri and superfecta plays.

Pick 5-1-7-4

Race 18 - Grade TAA - 660 yard course - The (3) Barts Hammerdown also had a winning streak going but was denied his third straight win in his last race, I look for him to get back to his winning ways here with a win at the wire after making a strong move late to catch the leaders here. The (1) Lucia is a big threat though as she loves the inside and is going for her third straight win and fourth in the last five races. The last two times she has had the one box, she has won. The (7) PJ Payingthebill is a longshot here but does like it mid to wide and worth a shot in case he gets clear early. Another hard runner is the (4) D'Bulls Megan who should be the early frontrunner and who has five straight top two efforts.

Pick  3-1-7-4

The Moneymaker play of the evening is in the 13th race, a grade AA contest over the 583 yard course and is the (7) CBJ Twix. This greyhound has 26 top four finishes in 33 races and shows good early speed. He will certainly need to break good in this contest to have a chance but at the odds he will probably be going off at, I believe he's worth at least a small play here as he does have a win in this class just a few races back.
