Sunny skies and hopefully a drying-out turf course should make for a strong afternoon of racing Sunday at Pimlico, which hosts five stakes on its 10-race program.

Here are several horses of interest as win candidates:

Race 5 -- Allowance (2:52 p.m. ET)

#6 HITCH A RIDE (12-1) concedes some fitness here in what will be her first start since October, but the Mshawish filly has some speed and the potential to improve. Out of Grade 1-placed stakes-winning sprinter, she's a half sister to Top Line Growth, who won an Iowa Derby and placed twice at Grade 3 level. A maiden-breaker second out, Hitch a Ride adds Lasix here and picks ups the capable Carol Cedeno in the saddle.

Race 8 -- Prince George's County S. (4:31 p.m. ET)

The field for this 1 1/8-mile grass stakes for older horses is comprised mostly of horses exiting the May 15 Dinner Party (G3) and the April 24 Henry Clark S., and #4 DOC BOY (15-1) belongs in the latter category. While no significant threat in the Henry Clark, and thus a seeming outsider on class compared to those who beat him there, or ran in the Dinner Party, the Into Mischief colt did win a couple stakes early in his career before being sidelined multiple times for long stretches.

The Mike Stidham trainee still seems to have some untapped potential to improve further, and it helps he makes the second start of his form cycle here. He might have fared better second off the bench two back, but showed surprising speed, when in fact he's proven more effective rallying from off the pace.

Race 10 -- Stormy Blues S. (5:37 p.m. ET)

If #11 HONEY PANTS (7-2) can prove as effective over five furlongs as she was going six furlongs in New York last fall, she can be a late threat in this turf dash. She also has a touch of class about her, too, having finished behind multiple Grade 3 winner Con Lima to start the year.
