Tim is raring to go on a busy Thursday afternoon of racing, with Churchill Downs, Belmont Park, and Woodbine among his spot plays.

Churchill Downs

Race 2

Juvenile fillies include #7 Thoughtfully (7-5), who debuts for 18% first out trainer Asmussen. A half-sister to Grade 2 winner Annual Report, the $950K yearling purchase appears ready to win at first asking. The daughter of Tapit shows a sharp 4-furlong move in :47 1/5 from the gate nine days ago, and Asmussen wins with 21% of his runners in maiden special weight events. Santana, who has won with 18% of his rides for the barn in the past two months, will be up.

Race 9

#5 Rearrange (6-1) flattened out to finish sixth after making a wide early move in her latest at this distance at Gulfstream in mid-April. Daughter of Speightstown is out of Flash Forward, who finished third in the Top Flight (G2), and chestnut has worked well in the interim. She figures to show improvement from off the pace with Bejarano riding.

Belmont Park

Race 4

Trainer McGaughey wins with 25% of his runners going a route for the first time and saddles #8 Creed (3-1), who closed to finish second in his debut over 7-furlongs at Tampa in April. Son of good young sire Honor Code is a half-brother to four winners and McGaughey wins with 18% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days. Colt cost $650K as a yearling and can be along late with Jose Ortiz in the saddle.

Race 8

Hopes were high for #1 Tankerville (8-1) after he defeated 15 rivals in his debut at Gowan Park as a juvenile, when trained by Dermot Weld. Son of Kitten’s Joy disappointed in two subsequent starts in Ireland and now makes his first outing for Mott, who wins with 16% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. 4-year-old is out of Starformer, who won the New York (G2), and the colt has been working steadily for his return since early February. Bay should be suited to this 10-furlong distance with Velazquez taking the mount.

Race 6

#9 Dark Temptress (6-1) has not been seen since weakening to finish fourth after leading early in her debut at Turfway in early-January. Trainer Cowans wins with 24% of his second time starters and with 24% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days. Daughter of Broken Vow may be sent early and tough to catch with Machado up.

Race 6

Trainer MacRae wins with 14% of his runners that have not raced for 90+ days and saddles #5 Captain Handsome (3-1), who has not been seen since finishing a close second at this level over 5-furlongs here in December. Gelding has a record of 11-1-2-3 on this oval and recent works include a bullet 4-furlong move in :46 1/5 last month. Son of Silent Name can be along from just off the pace with Lermyte riding.

Canterbury Park

Race 2

Blinkers are added to #8 Cool Edge (9-2) off a fading unplaced effort against better competition at Oaklawn in his second outing. Trainer Diodoro wins with 23% of his runners that have not raced for 46-90 days and son of Competitive Edge is out of a mare by Seattle Slew, who has produced six winners. 3-year-old can be on or near the early lead and tough at this level with Arrieta in the irons.

Race 5

#2 Azusa St. (9-2) has not been seen since giving way to finish unplaced after dueling for the early lead in his debut here in September. Son of speedy sire Kantharos is out of a mare by El Corredor, and trainer Robertson wins with 24% of his second-time starters. Dark bay figures to be sent early with Arrieta in the saddle.
