Relive Able Friend’s demolition job in last year’s edition:

It would be repetitive to incorporate all of his victories in the interim, so we’ll fast forward to his electric finish in the about six-furlong Premier Bowl in his October 25 reappearance:

Perhaps regressing a touch off that fantastic resumption, Able Friend was third to Beauty Flame and Contentment in the course-and-distance prep, the Jockey Club Mile (G2):

Maurice has taken Japan’s mile scene by storm, first in the June 7 Yasuda Kinen (G1):

And then in the November 22 Mile Championship (G1), beating Fiero:

Mondialiste erupted onto the stage in the Woodbine Mile (G1):

Then backed it up with a strong closing rush for second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1):

Esoterique never gained traction in the BC Mile, but she’s better judged by her strong second in the Queen Anne (G1) (where Toormore was fourth and Able Friend a lifeless sixth) and her defeat of males (including Toormore again) in the August 16 Prix Jacques le Marois (G1) at Deauville:

Toormore was most recently third in the Prix de la Foret (G1) on Arc Day:

Contentment had compiled a four-race winning streak prior to the Jockey Club Mile, capped by the October 25 Sha Tin Trophy:

Danon Platina (the battleship gray) secured a championship in the 2014 Asahi Hai Futurity (G1):

Returning from a layoff, Danon Platina outdueled Hong Kong Cup (G1) runner Satono Aladdin in the Fuji (G3):
