An outstanding field of nine juvenile fillies will speed six panels on the Saratoga main surface in Thursday’s $175,000 Schuylerville S. (G3). The opening day feature boasts eight debut winners in the cast, with six of them winning in wire-to-wire fashion, making it a very challenging handicapping puzzle.

The Mark Casse-trained #6 Me and My Shadow (7-2) dueled on the front end prior to driving home a clear winner on the synthetic at Woodbine on May 28, and I think that the daughter of Violence will transition well to the dirt on this occasion. The Ontario-bred bay comes in fresh with some decent morning moves in anticipation of her stakes bow, and she was pretty professional in her unveiling for a strong two-year-old conditioner. Tyler Gaffalione inherits the mount.

Trainer D. Wayne Lukas rarely sends out a debut winner, so when #9 Summer Promise (3-1) dominated from the start in her initial outing at Churchill Downs on June 25, I took notice. The $500,000 daughter of Uncle Mo sizzled a bullet half-mile following her impressive tally, and she will benefit from drawing outside in a field full of speed, as well. Luis Saez will be in the silks.

#4 Vedareo (8-1) was five lengths clear at the first call at Parx at first asking en route to a measured victory for conditioner Butch Reid. The Daredevil homebred was hammered to 3-10 odds on debut, so the February foal had obviously impressed a few people leading up to her run. Joel Rosario taking the reins is a positive, too.

Clarkland Farm homebred #1 Just Cindy (5-2) was super impressive in her score beneath the Twin Spires and could be a really nice one going forward, but the rail post is keeping me from using her on top in the affair. The Eddie Kenneally pupil is an obvious inclusion for the gimmicks, however, with Irad Ortiz Jr. taking the reins.
