Kentucky Derby Dream Bet picks for San Felipe, Tampa Bay Derby from James Scully

March 11th, 2016 players have two chances Saturday to cash a $15 win bet and qualify for the final round of the $25,000 Kentucky Derby Dream Bet, with the San Felipe (G2) and Tampa Bay Derby (G2) in the spotlight.

The San Felipe will feature only six horses but it’s a salty bunch, with graded stakes winners Exaggerator and Mor Spirit likely to compete for favoritism and unbeaten Cal-bred star Smokey Image the probable third choice in his first attempt versus open rivals.

I’ll go a different direction with Danzing Candy, who enters his stakes bow off a pair of impressive wins over maiden and allowance foes. The speedy colt retains the services of Mike Smith and is well-drawn in post 2. And I’m expecting to see up-and-coming Danzing Candy flash to the front at the start and lead all the way.

The Tampa Bay Derby marks the return of Grade 1 winner Brody’s Cause, who was last seen finishing third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1). And the late runner couldn’t have a better set-up on paper for his return, with confirmed speedballs Morning Fire and Awesome Banner, along with possibly Outwork, appearing to guarantee a hot and contested pace.

Brody’s Cause is my pick. will offer a 1 Million Points Tampa Bay Betting Contest on Saturday’s signature race at the Florida oval

And check out the Kentucky Derby Dream Bet contest, where you can play to win a trip to this year’s Kentucky Derby and Oaks and a $25,000 win bet on the Kentucky Derby.
