Presque Isle Downs Selections and Analysis for Sept. 28
1st: #1 SIGN AND SEAL – still winless after 13 tries but all came against better company than this. She dropped to the maiden $15K level last out and held on for second after opening up a big lead and now drops to the bottom for Mike Pappada.
2nd: #7 POP POP’S BABY BOO – has tried this maiden claiming level her last four starts here and at least showed some speed in her last two starts. Daughter of Flintshire comes back on two weeks rest and gets Mike Allen again.
3rd: #5 ISHKA BARHA – improved a lot when stretched back out to two turns and dropped down to this maiden level.
1st: #1 FREE FLAYME – showed good speed in three starts on the Tapeta at Gulfstream Park then ran three straight turf sprints at Colonial Downs. He drops down in class and draws the rail, where Walber Alencar can make the lead and try to hold on.
2nd: #7 SQUIRREL – has faced this conditioned claiming level three times here and ran second twice. He was used hard from post one last out before getting caught, so the outside draw might help him settle while clear with Addiel Ayala.
3rd: #3 CRY MACHO – won on the dirt at Thistledown two starts back then was outrun when moved way up in class.
1st: #1 SHE NASTY – being three years old allows her to run against this level, and she was a good second last out when she chased the pace. She draws the rail today and gets Antonio Gallardo back aboard — 18% with his route mounts.
2nd: #2 CASCADE PARK – rallied from off the pace to beat open allowance foes two starts back here then went gate to wire last out when he was allowed to set a dawdling pace. Mike Pappada wins 29% of first starts after a win.
3rd: #5 RUNAWAY BREEZE – beat cheaper by over eight lengths two starts back and gets in light again with Alice Beckman.
1st: #7 ROLLING MO – is only 2-for-25 here over the years, but she has 12 placings and fits well with this bottom-level group. She just missed last out when she chased a fast pace. Gaddiel Martinez gets the ride — he has a flat-bet profit with his last 121 route mounts.
2nd: #4 COURTED – gunned to the front and almost went gate to wire two starts back going six furlongs. She lost all chance when she broke poorly last out, and now the daughter of Palace Malice stretches out to two turns for Matt Kintz — 25% with this move.
3rd: #6 THISAINTJUMPSTREET – was a good third two starts back then added blinkers and tired badly last out.
1st: #7 FALK – made a decent middle move in his career debut, then the son of Constitution came back and pressed the pace in a wide trip. Tim Hamm wins 23% with his synthetic-track starters and switches to Pablo Morales.
2nd: #4 SCHIFFHAUER STRONG – has had three tries to break his maiden here and ran second each time. He chased the pace from post one last out and draws a bit better with Walber Alencar. Mike LeCesse wins 21% of first starts after being beaten as the favorite.
3rd: #3 AZTEC LEGEND – son of Sharp Azteca (15% debut winners) make his first start for Tim Hamm, who wins 16% in this spot.
1st: #6 MON PARADIS – ran well in three starts here against better going two turns then was a sharp winner at Mountaineer Park. She drops way down in class here for Matt Kintz, who wins 30% of first starts after a win.
2nd: #2 WINDY CITY GIRL – weakened late in her Presque Isle debut two starts back when dropped down to this claiming level then was outkicked as the 13-10 favorite when stuck behind a slow pace. Pablo Morales rides back — 26% with his route mounts.
3rd: #1 KITTEN BY THE SEA – did his best running when she went to the front and could be tough from the rail.
1st: #5 ONE THAT GOT AWAY – had a good maiden win and second against these state-bred allowance foes. She tried open company last out and now returns to state-breds for Mike Trombetta, who wins 24% with his synthetic-track starters.
2nd: #6 MOTITO – races mostly going two turns, but when the daughter of Kantharos dropped back to a sprint, she was a sharp winner. Coming back two weeks later after a good two-turn effort, she could be a major stretch factor.
3rd: #2 QUARTERFLASH – broke her maiden going two turns on the turf at Monmouth Park last out.
1st: #7 CORAL LEGACY – is only 2-for-30 lifetime, but most of those races came on turf and against better company. He was a good second two starts back at 24-1 then rallied when dropped down to this level.
2nd: #4 INCLUSIVE – drops down to bottom-level claimers off a pair of efforts here against better. He drops down to the bottom for Lance Stokes, who wins 25% with his route starters and the last 57 of them show a flat-bet profit.
3rd: #12 GREAT – would like him better, but it will be tough to put him any higher from post 12.
