Zoomin Effortlessly is the favorite in the $100,000 Leo Stakes at Remington Park

at Remington Park. A full field of stakes winners will compete in the Grade 1 event at the distance of 400 yards.

Defending champion Zooming Effortlessly, the 2-1 favorite, will make his 2017 debut. The multiple-graded stakes gelding last competed in the the $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park, where he ran second to 2016 AQHA world champion, Jessies First Down. Regular pilot Santos Carrizales will guide the son of Zoomin for Bux , who will be in pursuit of his 16th career win from 26 starts.

Conditioner Trey Wood will saddle Bodacious Eagle, a son of top AQHA sire, One Famous Eagle. Ricky Ramirez, who rides first call for the Wood barn, is reunited with the 5-year-old, who won the $50,000 Eastex Stakes on March 12 at Remington Park. He drew post position nine and has been installed at odds of 7-2.  Wood will also saddle Tres Friends, who won the $1 million Texas Classic Futurity in 2015 at Lone Star Park. Larry Payne will guide the son of Tres Seis, who has bankrolled over $926,000 to date.

Jockey Stormy Smith will pilot Big Lew

Big Lew, is another sharp runner. He has posted stakes wins at Los Alamitos, finished third in last year’s $600,000 Champion of Champions (G1) in December. Stormy Smith will ride for trainer Mike Robbins.

Fly Thru The Fire returns to action for AQHA Champion trainer Judd Kearl. The California-bred made his last start in the Grade 1 Zia Park Championship, where he finished fourth. Oscar Delgado will guide the 6-year-old, who drew the far inside post.

Post time for Saturday’s program is 6:00 pm (Central). The Leo Stakes will run as race ten, and the other stakes, the $50,000 Decketta for fillies and mares, is carded as the ninth.
