History of Horse Racing at Delaware Park

Opened in 1937, Delaware Park was designed by William DuPont Jr. and is a popular place for some of horse racing's best to begin their careers (including Barbaro, Afleet Alex, and Xtra Heat). Delaware Park is one of the few major Thoroughbred race tracks to regularly card Arabian races, and is also one of only three places on the east coast that takes parlay bets on pro football.

Delaware Park doesn’t just offer incredible horse racing, the track is also home to a popular casino that offers 2,500 slot machines and live table games for playing blackjack, poker, roulette, and more. The race track also offers several great dining options, like Legends and Picciotti’s Pizzeria. Patrons can enjoy a few rounds of golf at the White Clay Creek after taking in a few races in the morning.
