American teen tennis sensation Cori ‘Coco’ Gauff has suddenly shot into contention to claim her first Grand Slam tournament, after her shocking straight sets defeat of Naomi Osaka at the 2020 Australian Open.

The 15-year-old swept past the defending Australian Open Champion 6-3, 6-4 in the third round at Melbourne Park. The win saw Gauff become the third-youngest woman to progress through to the Round of 16 at the Australian Open after Martina Hingis (1996) and Steffi Graf (1984).

BetAmerica players responded to Gauff’s win by supporting her into a +1100 fifth favorite to capture the year’s first major tournament. Gauff commenced the Australian Open as a +15000 outsider.

“Gauff is in scintillating form and has dismantled two former world number one players to advance to the fourth round, so there’s no reason she can’t keep the momentum going deep into the second week,” said BetAmerica’s Andrew Brown.

Hometown hero Ashleigh Barty is now the +300 favorite at BetAmerica to win the Aussie slam, followed by Karolina Pliskova (+550), Petra Kvitova (+650) and Simona Halep (+650).

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic tops betting at +150, with Rafael Nadal (+350), Roger Federer (+600) and Daniil Medvedev (+1100) next in contention.
